U.S. Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Building Plan
Ryan Companies newest development, 3900 Camelback Center, has given the term "going-green" a
double meaning, as it is both environmentally friendly and will provide its tenants with some major
cost savings. The project is going to be LEED Silver certified, which stands for Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design, and is a world-wide certification recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council in Washington D.C.
From the first shovel of dirt moved on the property, Ryan Companies is paying attention to
environmentally friendly practices. They are incorporating preventable pollution during every phase
of construction, using regional materials throughout the building eliminating the impact of unnecessary
transportation and utilizing rapid renewable products for all interior wood finishes. Incorporating
on-site rain water retention for supplemental water usage and water efficient landscaping will reduce
the amount of water used to operate the building by up to 30 percent. The building is designed to
include solar power technology, increased ventilation, and expansive energy-efficient exterior windows
allowing for cleaner air and more natural lighting in all of the tenant spaces.
LEED certified properties offer tenants a major benefit of not only cost savings generated by the operating
efficiency of their building, but a healthy indoor working environment for their employees that enhances
employee productivity and decreases health risks. The overall maintenance and operating costs of 3900
Camelback Center makes "going-green" a win-win for both Ryan Companies and its tenants.
